It’s hard to believe that Halloweentown first premiered on Disney Channel, over not one but two decades ago. Back in 1998, you probably dreamed of having witch powers like Marnie (Kimberly J. Brown) and telling your friends how cool your grandmother, Aggie (Debbie Reynolds), is in real life. And there’s no limit on the amount of times you’re rewatching the classic Halloween flick on Disney+ years later, but each time we view it, it's crazy to see just how much has changed since we last saw the cast in the final movie of the franchise, Return to Halloweentown in 2006.
A few of people from the Halloweentown cast went on to starred in some exciting new film and TV shows. Others left and grew out of the world of acting to find other passions. For a full rundown on the cast, you can read below and discover what all the actors behind your favorite characters are up to today.
Then: Kimberly J. Brown
Kimberly was 13 years old when she played Marnie Piper in the beloved Disney Channel original movie. Before Halloweentown came along, she first landed a role playing Amanda Delaney in the 1990 TV series The Babysitter's Club. Years later, she voiced the part of Miyu Yamano in an anime show called Vampire Princess Miyu. Fans might also remember her as a guest star in the sitcom Unhappily Ever After.
Now: Kimberly J. Brown
Even though she portrayed Marnie in the second and third Halloweentown movies, she also appeared in several other films, including Be Cool, Bringing Down The House, and the Hallmark Channel TV movie My Sister’s Keeper. She also had a guest role in Law & Order: SVU. Today though, Kimberly isn't doing as much acting. In 2010, she reportedly received a bachelor's degree in business and co-wrote a children’s book called Poppin's Pumpkin Patch Parade in 2016. Now, Kimberly helps co-run an Etsy shop called CraftilyCreative, which sells Halloweentown-themed merchandise among other fun items.
Then: Joey Zimmerman
While a year younger than Kimberly when playing Dylan in Halloweentown, Joey landed in several TV movies and series like Earth 2, CBS Schoolbreak Special, Beastmaster III: The Eye of Braxus, and many more, according to his IMDB page.

Now: Joey Zimmerman
While still part of the Halloweentown franchise, Joey took on other acting projects in the early 2000s, such as 7th Heaven, That’s '70s Show and Lizzie McGuire. Like Kimberly, Joey isn't doing much acting these days. According to his Instagram, he’s a photographer and co-creator of a media company called ZFO Entertainment.
Then: Judith Hoag
Before Halloweentown, Judith got a jump start on her acting career in the late '80s and early '90s, securing several guest roles in Loving, Spenser: For Hire, and CBS Summer Playhouse. She made her film debut as April O'Neil in the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie from 1990.
Now: Judith Hoag
After playing Marnie’s mother, Judith was a guest star in various shows, including Grey’s Anatomy, CSI: New York, Nashville, and many others. Recently, she also had a major role as Stephanie Quinn in the Syfy fantasy drama series The Magicians.

Then: Emily Roeske
Emily was only a little girl when she was cast as Sophie Piper, Marnie's younger sister. Even still, Emily started acting when she was five, playing Alicia in Fell's Redeemer. The movie came out a year before Halloweentown made its debut.

After the third Halloweentown film, she retired from acting, according to Bustle. Now, she currently teaches mixed martial arts at Surprise Family Karate in Surprise, Arizona.
Then: Debbie Reynolds
In the Halloweentown franchise, she played Grandma Aggie, Marnie's biggest hero. At the time, Debbie had already established herself as a Hollywood icon, starring most notably in Singin' in the Rain and The Unsinkable Molly Brown (which earned her an Oscar nomination).

After wrapping up Halloweentown, Debbie went on to enjoy many more film and TV show roles. On December 28, 2016, Debbie died at the age of 84 from intracerebral hemorrhage, a type of stroke, according to CNN. Her death came one day after her daughter, Carrie Fisher, died.
Then: Daniel Kountz
Daniel had gotten into the acting scene about three years before appearing in Halloweentown 2: Kalabar's Revenge, scoring parts here and there in JAG and Boston Public.
Now: Daniel Kountz
Apart from enjoying the occasional burger with his former co-star (oh yeah, did we mention the two are dating in real life?!), Daniel appears to be still taking on acting roles once in a while. Per IMDB, he most recently appeared in Prospectors The Forgiven in 2019.

Now: Finn Wittrock
Finn's most iconic role today (apart from Halloweentown High, of course) has to be his portrayal of Dandy Mott, Tristan Duffy, and others in FX's American Horror Story. He also starred in The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story. Those two shows alone have earned him two Emmy nominations. As for his personal life, he has been married to his wife, Sarah Roberts, since 2014 and the two have a son together named Jude.
Then: Sara Paxton
We get it, everyone wanted Kimberly on the last Halloweentown flick. But when our wish wasn't granted, Sara stepped up to the plate and did an amazing job playing Marnie. Before Halloweentown, Sara appeared in Lizzie McGuire, Summerland, and many more. She also had scored the leading role in Aquamarine and graced the screen playing queen bee Staci in Sleepover.

You've likely since seen Sara on Sydney White, Lovestruck: The Musical, Superhero Movie and The Front Runner. Let's not also forget she was part of the 2009 remake of The Last House on the Left. Oh yes, and she also appeared in This Is Us in 2017.
